In 1999, the Swatch Group bought Breguet, which included the Lemania manufacture – and has significantly modernized the factory since that time – yet surprisingly, the movement powering the Type XX has remained the same for more than two decades.



Cal. 1350 is a modernized, updated chronograph movement based on the early automatic chronograph co-developed by Omega and Lemania, Cal. 1340/1040. That integrated, cam switching movement was only produced for half a decade before an update, Cal. 5100/1045, was introduced.

Breguet Celebrates Tourbillon Patent Anniversary

June 26, 2018 marks the 217th anniversary of the Tourbillon patent, a revolutionary invention by Abraham-Louis Breguet, father of modern horology. The festivity known as “Tourbillon Day” will be celebrated in Breguet boutiques in Zurich, Taipei and New York. Breguet welcomes watch enthusiasts to see thebrand’s vast collection of Tourbillon timepieces and learn about its unparalleled contribution to watchmaking.

On June 26, 1801, Abraham-Louis Breguet patented a revolutionary mechanism that neutralized the effects of gravity providing incredible precision in mechanical timepieces .This invention was an engineering feat that cemented the illustrious watchmaker’s standingas one of the most innovative figures of all time.
During his lifetime, Abraham-Louis Breguet created 35 tourbillon watches, and fewer than 10 of them are known to survive. The Tourbillon precision pocket watch No. 1188 sold to Don Antonio de Bourbon, Infante of Spain, in 1808, is one of the most fascinating pieces in the brand’s heritage and will be exhibited in its Zurich Boutique and Museum starting from June 26, 2018. The House of Breguet possesses two other historical Tourbillon pocket watches, No. 1176 sold by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1809 and No. 2567 sold in 1812, along with original records listing every single historical creation.





Tourbillon Extra-Plat 5367
Recently, Breguet unveiled the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat 5367 with an enamel dial. This timepiece is distinguished by its timeless aesthetic that symbolises the ultimate Breguet style. The blue Breguet hands strike a powerful contrast with the immaculate whiteness of the traditional enamel, thereby ensuring perfect legibility of the hours and minutes. This display layout with Breguet Arabic numerals is reminiscent of the watches created by A.-L. Breguet, who revelled in transforming the aesthetic conventions governing the timepieces of his era.





The watch boasts a slim case measuring a thickness of only 7.45 mm, housing a 3 mm thick movement wound. A peripheral rotor allows the wearer an unobstructed view ofthe engraving work on the movement, entirely crafted by Breguet’s skilled artisans inSwitzerland.
