Cartier has updated the Tank Américaine to make it a little thinner, slimmer, and curvier — small changes that make for slight, noticeable improvements to a classic design. It's what makes the Tank the Tank, and why it's looked more or less the same for more than a century

Santos de Cartier New 2023: Santos, of course, with eight exposed screws on the bezel, Roman numerals on the dial, a railway minute track, and classic Cartier sword-shaped hands, set with a faceted sapphire cabochon. The heptagonal crown remains the same. The new metallic graduated green dial shines from all sides as all parts are coated with a light colored lacquer

Now here's a most intriguing piece: the Cartier Tank à Guichets. Part of the Collection Privé Cartier Paris, it features a closed-off dial with a digital display and jumping hours. Limited to a series of 100 pieces

This special order watch features an inky black lacquered dial, yellow gold apple-shaped hands and the chemin de fer. The raised matte-metallic gilt Roman numerals are a highlight that provides the best of both worlds between legibility and depth. The surface of the indices is also treated in a way such that they emanate a slight iridescent shimmer that never fails to make me swoon. Of course, the perfect finishing detail is the olive-toned green sapphire cabochon. Not only are green cabochons uncommon for Cartier watches, but the pairing of green and yellow gold is also a handsome combination that rarely fails. A regal addition to my Cartier collection to celebrate my birthday and accompany me through next year and those to come
